The Fastest Electric Cars in the World

If you're a fan of supercars, then you'll have no doubt noticed how quickly electric cars can accelerate.the fastest electric cars in the world This is largely down to the fact that they don't have to wait for their turbos to spool or their engine's rpms to rise, which means that you can get maximum torque straight away.

There are quite a few companies that manufacture fast-accelerating electric cars, but the majority of them are still relatively unknown.the fastest electric cars in the world Some of these cars are already available to buy today, while others will be coming out in the near future.

The fastest EV to hit the market currently is probably the Tesla Model S Performance. This is the American company's fastest-ever production EV and it can hit 60 mph in a staggering 3.1 seconds. The Performance is not quite as quick as the standard Model S (which can do it in 1.9 seconds) but it's a much better value alternative.

Another car on the market that's a contender for a spot on this list is the Porsche Taycan. While the RS version of this electric SUV isn't quite as powerful as some of the other EVs on this list, it still hits 60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds. It's a great choice for anyone who wants a sporty looking EV that can live with some of the world's quickest supercars, but it won't be as good at covering long distances between charging stops.

Rimac's Nevera is a newcomer to this list, but it's one of the fastest electric cars on the market today. The Nevera is the second electric hypercar to come from Croatian firm Rimac, who've already signed EV-focused partnerships with Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Automobili Pininfarina.

It has four motors that produce a whopping one megawatt of power, which is enough to give it 1,341bhp and allow the EV to go from 0-62mph in 2.7 seconds. It's also capable of hitting 186mph in 11.8 seconds, 100mph in 9.1 seconds and a quarter-mile in just 4.3 seconds.

This isn't an electric car that you're going to want to drive on a daily basis, but the Tesla Roadster is one of the best hypercars you can buy. It can hit 62mph in under 1.9 seconds and its cold air thrusters can help to make it even faster.

Rivian's R1S & R1T aren't as quick or powerful as some of the other electric hypercars on this list, but they're the fastest range-topping EVs you can buy in the US. They'll cover 310 miles between charges and feature 135kWh batteries that can provide 753bhp.

Lucid's Gravity is another electric vehicle that will grab your attention. It's a seven-seater that'll be released in 2024 and will offer the same high-performance, sports-tuned driving experience that Lucid has become known for.

With the Tesla Model S Plaid taking the Nurburgring in just seven minutes, there's no doubt that electric cars are going to be more popular than ever. They're also going to be more affordable, and with the price of a Tesla EV starting at just $60k in 2022, there's no reason why you shouldn't own one soon.
